1981, April, 24 -  the decision of the President of USA R. Reagan about the cancel of embargo on deliveries in the USSR agricultural production is declared.

1981, August, 6 - the President of USA R. Reagan has given the order about all-scale manufacture of the neutron weapon.

1981, November, 30 – the negotiations between the USSR and USA about restriction of nuclear arms in Europe have begun in Geneva.

1981, December, 28 - the application of the President of USA R. Reagan for introduction of sanctions is published concerning Soviet Union in connection with events in Poland: to suspend flights of planes "Aeroflots" in USA, to postpone realization of some negotiations, to toughen the order of distribution of sanctions to sale of the USSR some kinds of the equipment, to refuse prolongation of bilateral agreements which term expired in 1981.

1982, March, 16 - general secretary of CK of CPSU, the chairman of Presidium of a Supreme Soviet of USSR L.I.Brezhnev has declared the decision of the Soviet management to enter unilaterally the moratorium on expansion of nuclear arms of average range in the European part of the USSR.

1982, June, 19 - the President of USA R. Reagan has declared the decision to prolong and essentially to expand entered at the end of 1981 interdiction on deliveries in the USSR the oil-and-gas equipment, having distributed this interdiction not only on production of the American firms, but also on the equipment made by their branches abroad and the foreign companies under the American licenses.

1982, June, 29 - the Soviet-American negotiations about restriction and reduction (detente) of strategic armaments have begun in Geneva.

1982, November, 13 - the President of USA R. Reagan has declared a cancellation of sanctions concerning the USSR that were expressed in an interdiction on deliveries of the oil-and-gas equipment by the American companies, their branches abroad and the foreign companies making such equipment under the American licenses.

1983, March, 23 - the President of USA R. Reagan has declared the beginning of works in frameworks of "the strategic defensive initiative".

1983, September, 8 - the President of USA R. Reagan has made the decision on sanctions concerning the USSR in connection with incident with the South-Korea airliner which broken the Soviet border and has been brought down in area of Sakhalin in night since August, 31 for September, 1; according to this decision since September, 15 representations of Aeroflot in Washington and New York were closed, contacts of the American airlines to "Aeroflot" are forbidden.

1983, November, 25 - the Application of general secretary of CK of CPSU, the chairman of Presidium of a Supreme Soviet of the USSR J.V.Andropov is published in connection with the beginning of accommodation in Europe the American rockets of average range "Pershing-2" and cruise missiles; in whom it was spoken, that because the actions of USA have broken an opportunity of achievement of the arrangement on negotiations about restriction of nuclear arms in Europe, the USSR counts the impossible further in them participation and cancels the moratorium on expansion of the Soviet nuclear means of average range in the European part of the USSR.

1984, May, 8 - the National Olympic committee of the USSR has declared impossibility of participation of the Soviet sportsmen in Olympic games in Los Angeles in connection with attempts of the American administration to use games in political ends and refusal of the government of USA to provide safety of sportsmen.

1984, June, 30 - the Application of the Soviet government with the offer to the government of USA is published to start negotiations on prevention of militarization of a space.

1984, July, 17 - the arrangement on the organization of facsimile communication is achieved in addition to working cable line of a direct communication of USSR - USA by an exchange of notes between the State department of USA and embassy of the USSR in USA.

1985, March, 12 - the first round of the Soviet-American negotiations on nuclear and space arms has opened in Geneva.

1985, April, 8 - general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev has brought the offer on that the USSR and USA have entered for all period of the Geneva negotiations on nuclear and space arms the moratorium on creation, including research works, on tests and expansion of shock space arms, have frozen the strategic offensive arms; Expansion of the American rockets of average range in Europe and, accordingly, escalating of the Soviet reciprocal measures should be simultaneously stopped.

1985, April, 8 - general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev has declared, that since April, 7 till November 1985 Soviet Union enters the moratorium on expansion of the rockets of average range and stops realization of other reciprocal measures in Europe.

1985, April, 12 - the President of USA R. Reagan has declared, that the decision declared by the USSR to enter the moratorium on expansion of the rockets of average range and to suspend realization of other reciprocal measures in Europe till November 1985 is "the propaganda step".

1985, May, 1 - the new rules developed by the Ministry of Trade of USA, providing the further restriction of the American export to the USSR have come into force.

1985, July, 30 - the application of general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev about introduction by Soviet Union of the unilateral moratorium on any nuclear explosions for the period since August, 6 1985 till January, 1 1986 is published; it is declared that the moratorium will operate and is farther if USA will abstain from its part from realization of nuclear tests.

1985, August, 5 - the President of USA R. Reagan has declared that USA refuse to accept the offer of the USSR on the announcement of the joint moratorium on nuclear explosions.

1985, 19-21, November - the meeting between general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev and the President of USA R. Reagan was held in Geneva. During a meeting are signed: the General agreement between the government of the USSR and the government of USA about contacts, exchanges and cooperation in the field of a science, engineering, education, culture and in other areas; the Program of cooperation and exchanges between the USSR and USA on 1986-1988.

1986, January, 1 - under the mutual arrangement general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev and the President of USA R. Reagan have acted with New Year's references, accordingly, to people of United States of America and to people of Soviet Union; these references were transferred on TV to the USSR and USA.

1986, January, 15 - general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev has made with the application  which has put forward the program of stage-by-stage liquidation of the nuclear weapon up to 2000 and has declared prolongation for three months of the unilateral moratorium of the USSR on nuclear explosions.

1986, April, 29 - the regular air communication between the USSR and USA, interrupted by the decision of administration of USA in December 1981 is renewed according to the achieved arrangement.

1986, May, 14 - general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev has declared that the Soviet government has made the decision to prolong the unilateral moratorium for nuclear tests till August, 6 1986.

1986, August, 18 – it is declared that the Soviet government has made the decision to prolong the unilateral moratorium for nuclear explosions till January, 1 1987.

1986, August - 13 working agreements is signed on 1986-1988 with a view of realization of the Program of cooperation and exchanges between the USSR and USA.

1986, October, 11-12 - a meeting of general secretary of CK of  CPSU M.S.Gorbachev with the President of USA R. Reagan was held in Reykjavik (Iceland).
